Terms of Use

Last updated: April 20, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of American Accent US (“the Service”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

1. What the Service is

American Accent US is an online pronunciation coach. We analyze the text and audio you provide and return per-phoneme feedback, reference audio, exercises, and progress tracking. The Service is educational — it is not a substitute for a licensed speech-language pathologist or clinical speech therapy.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country) to create an account.
  • You’re responsible for keeping your credentials secret and for activity that happens under your account.
  • Provide accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date in Settings.

3. Acceptable use

Don’t use the Service to:

  • Break the law or infringe anyone’s rights (including copyright, privacy, or publicity rights).
  • Upload audio of other people without their consent.
  • Submit content that’s hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful.
  • Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.
  • Resell, sublicense, or re-host the Service without written permission.
  • Overload the Service (e.g., abusive rate limits, automated scraping of AI outputs for redistribution).

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the text and audio you submit (“User Content”). By submitting it, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, and display it only to provide the Service to you — including sending it to the AI processors described in our Privacy Policy. The license ends when you delete the content or your account.

Don’t submit User Content you don’t have the right to submit.

5. AI-generated outputs

Analyses, IPA transcriptions, scores, synthesized reference audio, and teaching tips are generated by AI systems. They can be wrong. Treat them as educational guidance, not ground truth — and definitely not medical, legal, or clinical advice.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the brand, design, course content, and software, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own learning while your account is active. Nothing else is transferred.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party AI providers for speech analysis and audio generation. Those providers have their own terms; your use of the Service is also subject to them. We’re not responsible for outages, bugs, or changes in those providers, and we may switch providers from time to time.

8. Subscriptions, pricing, and refunds

If and when paid plans are offered, pricing and billing terms will be shown at purchase. Unless required by applicable consumer law, payments are non-refundable after the service period has started. You can cancel a subscription at any time; it stays active until the end of the billing period.

9. Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings or by contacting us.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, harm other users, or put the Service at risk.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability) do survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits or data.

12. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update the Service, add features, or retire ones that aren’t working. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email. Your continued use after the change is acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where American Accent US is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where required by local consumer law, nothing here removes rights you cannot legally waive.
