Master the /m/ sound — MOM

Module 1 — Articulation & awareness · Lesson 1 of 5

Producing /m/

How to produce /m/

Close your lips gently and let your voice hum through your nose. Keep the lips closed until the sound is finished. Common L2 error: at the end of a word the lips stay open and /m/ comes out as /n/ or vanishes into the vowel (seem → seen, team → teen).

Practice the sound in isolation

Say 'mom' slowly. Hold the target sound. Record yourself — does it match your mental model of the native version?

A few varied words
